Books

This biography of noted NZ author Frank Sargeson is the work of his long-time friend Dennis McEldowney, who was managing editor of Auckland University Press. Sargeson was a versatile writer producing fiction, plays and poetry as well as his two volume memoirs and many contributions to periodicals. The author's approach to the biography is wider than the life storyof the main subject, recalling his associations with other literary figures of his time, to provide an interesting and informative account, not only of Sargeson, but of NZ's literary communtity when it flourised, with many colourful personalities. A fine account of one who made a massive contribution to NZ literature. First edition from John McIndoe of 1976, 72 pages including acknowledgements, notes, illustratiions list and index, illustrated throughout with an excellent selection of b/w photos, complemented with art and document reproductions. Pictorial card covers are VG with some fading to spine area, small ink price top FFEP, no inscriptions and text block excellent.
