No Boots For Mr Moehau, Tauranga in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty for sale

Music instruments

The author was a NZ school teacher who spent some time at schools in the UK and Channel Islands. This novel, set in NZ, centres on a small coastal Maori community with a dwindling population. Mr Moehau, however, is not for moving on, contented in his idyllic setting, his fishing, neighbours and a relaxed lifestyle. This is about to be upset as developers intend to move in. He then becomes a de facto guardian of the land as differing views on the development plans emerge. Although written nearly 50 years ago the fictitious situation presented here is now an actuality, with more and more pristine and iconic coastal locations coming under pressure for residential development, creating controversey and sometimes confrontation. 189 pages. Blue hard covers with gilt spine titles VG+, text block excellent, no inscriptions. (Would be NF but for few foxing marks page edges as closed.) Colour art DJ is VG+, lower corner front flap clipped.
